Skies

I never looked at the sky.
I never thought to,
until you reminded me
that to be pinned
by its sheer vastness
was freedom
in itself.

Breathe, feel
and savour
the blank canvas
that covers
and holds you
in its infinite arms.

Lean back
and taste
an emotion rare,
even as
the clouds
gently move on,
and the skies
darken a little more.

Perhaps being trapped
isn\'t so bad after all.
Not when you have
open skies
to dream with.
